Sheena Bourn

I enjoy creating bathing belles that reflect the saucy seaside postcard era. Inflation of the female form is also on view on our local beaches; the voluptuous curves make a change from the angular shape considered desirable today. The beached mother with her childeren can be colourful, wear some extaordinary costumes and strike amusing poses.

To me the ceramic possibilities are endless, as long as they survive the kiln temperature of 1260 C, when the clay vitrifies. This enables the Belles to be left in the garden or pond all year to remind us of warm summer days.
